Drawing from his experiences as a dealer for the last 30 years, and as an appraiser on the PBS program “Antiques Roadshow”, Eric Silver will present a lively discussion on how antiques wind up with the people who now own them. As antiques can obtain mythic value within families, appraisers often find themselves immersed in the lives and life stories of antiques and their owners. This lecture will include samples of such stories about the history, origin and/or importance of family antiques, which Silver notes are often incorrect. |
